Hi, I had a little summer break. I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer. To stay true to the original intent of Well Nook, I’m shaking things up. Moving forward, besides the website that directs viewers to Substack, the entire Well Nook community is located on Substack. As things evolve, I hope you’ll continue to join me on this journey!
Updates
A few new things:
The Community Joy Nook: The Community Joy nook will start in our subscriber-only chat this Sunday! When I first envisioned building Well Nook, this nook was one of the first (of many) I wanted to create to make connections within the community.
Starting this Sunday, I invite you to share something from your week that brought you joy. It can be anything from a refreshing iced coffee to a trip to your pet looking cute. I’ll send an email on Sunday when the nook goes live. I hope you’ll join me in sharing joy from your week. ✨
Nooks: Instead of going back to the previous programming (2 newsletters a month), I am switching the formatting of the community to better align with my original vision for Well Nook. In the future, I will be publishing nooks. The nooks will contain information on specific wellbeing topics. For example, the Kitchen nook will have my favorite recipes and kitchen-related articles, gadgets, and more. The nook formatting will organize wellbeing topics in one place versus having information spread over several newsletters. This way, members can view topics that resonate with them more easily and bypass topics they are not interested in. Each time a nook is published, you will receive an email. Once published, the nooks will be on the Well Nook Substack homepage. The nooks may start slim but will grow as time passes. Be sure to check nooks regularly for new content. You can like, share, and comment on individual nooks. I’d love your input on what nook I should release second (the first will be the Community Joy nook this Sunday in the chat). Will you help me choose?
Wellbeing Calendar
The August wellbeing calendar was posted on August 1st in the chat. All subscribers (you are a subscriber since you received this email) can access the chat to view the calendar. I hope you enjoy exploring the wellbeing activities. Follow along day by day, or skip around and choose an activity that resonates with you today. Most of the activities can be completed in less than 30 minutes. I invite you to connect with the community in the replies. Here are suggestions on how to connect:
Tell the community what activities you enjoyed.
Share photos.
Provide tips and suggestions (e.g., share a recipe, share a breath work practice).
Do you have a wellbeing calendar suggestion? I’d love to hear it. It may be featured on an upcoming calendar.
Olympian Mindset
I enjoyed “Think like an Olympian” by Vox. It’s about how our mindsets can help us do almost anything better. Kai Laird, a sport and performance psychology group leader, says, “the best of the best stand out by being able to replicate top-caliber accomplishments on a more regular basis than others.” Here’s how the article says consistency is built:
I invite you to read the article for more details. Here is a summary of the strategies we can use to think like an Olympian:
Get specific about goals.
Plan ahead for suboptimal conditions.
Visualize success.
Use routines to get ready, but avoid relying on superstition.
Reframe performance anxiety.
Don’t forget to restore energy through stillness and time.

A Question Ask yourself, how can you be your own best cheerleader?
Weekly Wellbeing Suggestion- Week of August 19th Referencing the visualization above, what is the biggest hurdle you need to overcome to stay consistent (e.g., motivation, prior success, confidence)? If you’d like, try focusing each day this week on overcoming that hurdle to become more consistent in something that matters to you, whether it’s learning a new skill, working out, being more present, etc. I invite you to connect with the Well Nook community in the comments section. Share what your biggest hurdle is or what techniques you’re using to overcome it. You may inspire someone!

A Recipe I recently made this miso-butter mushroom with silky eggs recipe (The New York Times Cooking) (gift recipe) for a weekend brunch. The only substitution is that I used a butter alternative. My friend and I enjoyed the meal!
Thank you for being a member of the Well Nook community. I love having you here. Have a great weekend!
With gratitude,
